Our Mission

The Mission of the Greene School is explore the interdependence of human and natural systems. Through a rigorous pre-college curriuculum, we develop citizens and leaders engaged in finding peaceful and sustainable solutions to local and global challenges.

The Greene School exists to grow young people who care — about their communities, about the natural world, and about each other.

We take students out of the traditional classroom and into the field, because we believe the deepest learning happens through direct experience. Alongside a rigorous, pre-college curriculum, our students spend real time outdoors, in labs, in local communities, and in conversation with the challenges facing our world today. They learn to ask hard questions, work through them with integrity, and act with compassion.

We serve families from across Rhode Island — urban, suburban, and rural — because we believe every student deserves a place where curiosity is welcomed, differences are respected, and character matters as much as achievement.

Our Vision

We imagine a generation of graduates who don't just understand the world's environmental and social challenges — they feel ready to do something about them.

We picture a school where a 10^th grader can present research at the State House, where a senior can trace a local water source from its origin to a family's tap, and where every student leaves knowing that their voice, their choices, and their work matter beyond the walls of our school.

This is what it means to be part of The Greene School: to graduate better prepared not just for college or meaningful career, but for the work of being a thoughtful, engaged citizen of the world.
